Note: John Brockman's homestead was 10 miles south east of the Orange Co.courthouse on Pomunkey River joining Thomas Woolfolk and JohnHenderson's homesteads. In 1819 he acquired 593 3/4 acres 18 milesfrom the courthouse. In addition to some 500 acres in Orange Co., Va.John is known to have had nearly 4000 acres in Kentucky. Some of thisland he gave to his children before his death. He willed WashingtonBrockman, son of Samuel and Nancy Brockman, 150 acres of land onPitman's Creek in Green Co., KY. He also owned land on Clear,Jessamine and Long Lick Creeks.
Numerous documents are available, showing John Brockman furnishedsupplies for the Revolutionary forces. Orange County Va. Minute Bookpg. 66 February 1777 shows John
Brockman as being appointed lieutenant. Whether he was in activeservice is not known.

2. In Feb 1777 he was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant in theVirginia
state militia; Orange County Military Commissions from the OrderBook, p.
61 (Orange county, VA)....Scrapbook 177 and OCVF IV:138. He alsofurnished
supplies for the army during the Revolutionary War. (source alsoseen as:
Orange County Minute Book, Feb. 1777, page 61).

---John Brockman lived in the "White House" until 1774. In 1793,however,
he and his sisters signed over to their brother, William, anyinterest they
had in this land that had been settled by their father.
---his father, Samuel II, gave him a homestead in 1774 for 50pounds--this
was the 176 acres in lower Orange, VA bought from Samuel Mayfieldand
Benj. Cave. This homestead in Orange was known as "Mount Airy"and was
about 10 miles SE of the courthouse and was on the Pamunkey Riveradjoining
the lands of Thomas Woolfolk and John Henderson. The JohnBrockman family
was living on this property as of 1805, a date when John Brockmanpurchased
fire insurance and he give Mt. Airy, Orange county as hisaddress.
---On 22 Dec 1794 John bought 21 3/4 acres (Orange Deed Bk20:245) and
130 3/4 acres (from Andrew Shepherd). He sold these acres toIsaac Graves
on 9 Apr 1812.
---In 1813 he acquired 161 acres of the old home place of SamuelII, known
as Woolfolk's, near Monrovia, from Wm. and Rebecca Thompson whohad
acquired it from John's brother, William and his wife, MaryLindsay. In
1819 John sold this land to John Graves.
---From the Brockman Scrapbook, p. 46A, the old home of JohnBrockman (wide
chimney, homemade locks, graveyard with no markers) is called the"Isaac
Graves" home on the Monrovia-Holliday Mills Road, County Road612.
4. Owned about 4,000 acres of land in KY. Before his death hegave some of
