Subject: Graham/Skagg connection
I am looking for information on the family of JAMES SKAGGS one of theearly
pioneers into KY, and founder of Skaggs Station in the Green Riverarea of
KY sometime around 1780.
I am particulary interested in his granddaughter SALLY GRAHAM(daughter of
HENRY SKAGGS), and in BERRY SKAGGS,mentioned as having been"suspended for
drunkenness" from Brush Creek Baptist Church around 1800. I believethere
may be a connection with my ancestors, ELIJAH and SARAH GRAHAM, bothborn in
NC in 1760/70, and
married about 1785, either in SC or just after moving to
KY. I believe they were also connected to the Brush Creek BaptishChurch.
Also, can anyone tell me if Rev. Pepper, whose family married intoboth the
Skaggs and Grahams, was the minister at Brush Creek? Rev. Peppermarried
Berry D. Graham (son of Elijah and Sarah Graham) and Sarah Wright in1818 in
Green Co., KY. Possibly at the Brush Creek Baptish Church??>
