I have just received a packet from Jean
Mitchell Harris who researched our Estes branch about 10 years ago and
she is not on the Internet, but has shared some useful information..She
is descended from Rhoda Farmer Estes. She gave me a small obit for
Rhoda and her husband, Thomas Doyle Estes and gleanings that she had for
the family, but the greatest piece was the obit of Wade H. Farmer and
then comments made by a cousin, Georgia McBrien who was a cousin to
Rhoda's children who lived to be nearly 90 and she remembered Wade
Farmer coming to Rhoda's funeral.


Obituary :from Benton CO. Democrat March 14, 1907
Wade H. Farmer was born in Sequacha Valley, Bleadsaw Co. Tennessee,
September 9, 1818 and died at his home three miles west of Lowell and
eight miles south of Bentonville, March 5, 1907 aged 88 years, 5 months
and 23 days. He came to Benton County, Arkansas in 1840. Brother Farmer
was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Jackson in 1844 who was the grandmother of
G.P. Jackson of Bentonville and was also married the second time to Mrs.
Ruth Langston February 14, 1867. He was a member of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church for many years, but later in life became a member of
the M. E. Church, South and lived a member of this church until death.
The writer, who had been his pastor for four years, at the request of
his family conducted his funeral services at Oakley Chapel and in the
midst of a large crowd of sympathizing friends and relatives his remains
were tenderly consigned to their last resting place. Brother Farmer was
a good man and had often told the writer of his faith in God and his
readiness to depart and be at peace. His wife and children sorrow not as
those who have no hope. May the good Lord finally bring them all to
